NSDL CAS is a single Consolidated account statement consisting of transactions and holdings in investor’s demat account(s) held with NSDL and CDSL as well as in units of Mutual Funds held in Statement of Account (SOA) form.

e-CAS is a Faster, Safer, Greener way that offers you benefits of the digital platform. By subscribing to e-CAS you receive a password protected copy of your NSDL-CAS on your registered email id.

When does one receive CAS?

As per SEBI guidelines, if there is any transaction in any of the demat accounts of an investor or in any of his/her mutual fund folios, then CAS will be sent to the investor in the next month in respect of transactions executed in previous month along with the holdings.

Hence, if investor has done transaction(s) in every month, then he/she will get CAS every month. However, in case there is no transaction in any of the mutual funds folios and demat accounts in any month of the year, then CAS with holding details will be sent to the investor on half yearly basis viz., CAS will be sent with holdings as on March and September end in the next month viz., April and October respectively.

What is the basis for consolidation of portfolios to be considered for CAS?:
As per SEBI guidelines, consolidation of account statement is done on the basis of Permanent Account Number (PAN). In case of multiple holding, it is based on a PAN of the first holder and pattern of holding.

Based on the PANs provided by the AMCs/MF-RTAs, the Depositories match the PANs available in the demat account of the clients to determine the common PANs and allocate the PANs among themselves for the purpose of sending CAS. For PANs which are common between Depositories and AMCs, the Depositories send the CAS.

FAQ On NSDL Investor

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on NSDL Investor

If an investor is having multiple demat accounts across the depositories which depository will send the CAS to investor?:
In case investors have multiple demat accounts across the two depositories (i.e. with NSDL and CDSL), the depository having the demat account which has been opened earlier shall be the default depository which will consolidate details in respect of demat accounts across depositories and MF investments and dispatch the CAS to the investor.

Can investor request for change of default depository to receive the CAS?:
Yes. In case the investor has demat accounts with Participants of NSDL as well as CDSL and NSDL is the default depository from where the investor is receiving CAS; if such investor wishes to receive CAS from CDSL, the investor can indicate his preference by submitting a letter signed by the first holder to any DP of NSDL where the investor is having an account.

Alternatively, the investor can also send email to NSDL-CASfeedback AT nsdl.co.in from his email ID registered with NSDL.

The investor needs to ensure to quote his Name and Permanent Account Number (PAN). If the investor chooses CDSL, the investor will stop receiving CAS from NSDL and he will receive the same from CDSL.

Similarly, in case the investor wishes to choose NSDL as its preferred depository, the investor will have to follow similar process as prescribed by CDSL.

Why should investor choose NSDL as Preferred Depository for receiving CAS?:
NSDL CAS will enrich investor?s experience of managing his/her portfolio effectively and benefit him/her in many other ways viz. better decision making, simplified monitoring, rich analysis of portfolio etc.

Which asset classes are covered in NSDL CAS?:
NSDL CAS provides details of transactions and holdings across various asset classes that are held in investors demat account as well as Mutual Fund folios.

Such asset classes would include Equities, Warrants, Preference Shares, Mutual Fund units held in demat form, Corporate Bonds, Money Market Instruments, Securitized Instruments, Government Securities, Postal Saving Scheme held in demat form, MF units held in SOA form in Mutual Fund Folios etc.

1. Please send my CAS statement for the period March1-March 31st. This will help me to show IT department the holding period for my equity fund holding still March 31, for capital gain calculation purposes. They insist on a 3year holding to claim benefit under Long term capital gains. I don’t have the purchase details of some of the holdings. Please help.

2. I maintain part of the DMAT and Mutual fund (Non DMAT) accounts for my Daughter since her childhood. Now that, she is grown up she maintains her additional investment in Other DMAT Accounts and Mutual (Non DMAT) Accounts with her own email Id. Since my investment in her name is older, I get the Monty NSDL-CAS Statements to my email address. The Income tax Returns are of course submitted by my daughter directly on a consolidated basis. Is it possible for my daughter to once in away download NSDL-CAS in her own email Id in addition to I getting them by default? I shall be grateful for the clarification.

3. How can I update my Nominee, Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number etc. In one go against all my MFholdings. Depository says, I have to do it one by one against each holding directly with the company. Is this correct? Please clarify for my further action. Also instead of 2nd joint holder the form has been wrongly filled by the agent as nominee. How can I change nominee to joint holder whilst I am alive? Please explain what forms are required.

Error / Problem:
1. I have not received the CAS from November to till date. Kindly update the same and send to my registered E-mail ID. I have tried your site now and got OTP through my mobile to get online statement but in vain. Please help me to access the same now.

2. You send me NSDL statement but, I cannot open it. There is no source of way to contact you. From the email you send me , the instructions given of your contacts, but email does not ACCEPT. So, it is difficult to complain. It is useless. Please send me my statement without PASSWORD.

      I had a similar problem. It was resolved recently. This is how you should do it:
      You have to visit your Bank who is the Depository Participant for you. You have to visit the branch that handles depository services. Advise him about the changes you wish to do in your profile details. They will then upload the data. NSDL or CDSL as the case maybe in your case, pick this data once a month and rectify at their end, before sending the next months statement. My DP Bank was ICICI and I did this change visiting them about three weeks ago. Yesterday I received the NSDL statement .
