Davanagere City Corporation, Davanagere in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the Smart City Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.The city of Davanagere is located at a distance of about 260 km from the state capital of Bangalore. It is nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats.

Previously known for its cotton mills, it is a fast developing city of Karnataka. The arid town was once a thriving textile center. This place is also called as ‘Manchester of Karnataka’ or textile capital of South India. Davanagere City Corporation, Davanagere has to submit a Smart City Proposal (SCP) to the Ministry of Urban Development, GOI which shall outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders unfolding the aspiration of people matched with the vision contained in the smart city proposal.
In order to make the smart city proposals more participatory and inclusive:
Davanagere City Corporation, Davanagere hereby invites smart livable and sustainable suggestions/ideas from citizens to make Davanagere as a Smart City The residents are requested to post their suggestions pertaining to infrastructure services and smart solution such as water supply and recycling and conservation, energy management using smart grid, sanitation including solid waste management, efficient urban mobility, robust IT connectivity and digitization, safety and security of citizen particularly women elderly by use of CCTV surveillance, smart street lighting, public WiFi network, parking, development of non-motorized transport, sustainable environment, intelligent traffic management, energy efficient street lights, health and education services using IT enabled smart applications , innovative use of open spaces or any other feature the citizen would like to include as part of smart city vision. The citizen are also requested to post their ideas of financing of the smart city plan and the revenue model to attract private public participation etc.

Davanagere District is an administrative district of Karnataka State in India. The city of Davanagere is the district headquarters. It had a population of 1,946,905 of which 32.31% was urban as of 2011. This district was corved out of Chitradurga district in 1997 by then Chief Minister of Karnataka J.H. Patel with annexation of part of Shimoga and Bellary districts.
It is nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Previously knoen for its cotton mills, it is a fast developing city of Karnataka. The arid town, was once a thriving textile center. This place is also called as ‘Machester of Karnataka’ or textile capital of South India. In 1932, this shrine was converted into the beautiful Durgambika Temple.

Our davangere should be first clean and it should be example for other cities every road should be cleaned. There should not be spitting marks on any road every road should be provided with dustbins. If any uncleanliness maintained in such cases there should be a fine to the citizens and pigs should not be there in the cities because they are the part of uncleanliness and our city should like other countries clean and neat and should be provided with sufficient water supply and people should develop. These are all my suggestions.
The city is provided with more water treatment plants & more solid waste management systems.(for 50-70acres there is minimum of one WTP & one SWMS)
Reduce congestion in transport system ,the roads are pathetic due to which considerable amount of non renewable resources are wasted. So please improve the condition of roads ,public safety has to be ensured by making the citizens to strictly follow traffic rules ,multispeciality health centers which are available for 24*7 at reasonable cost has to be set up ,serious measures has to be taken for timely and proper disposal of garbage ,education has to be considered as main priority and it has to be made sure that every child is going to school and the idea of adult education should be considered
The development of a city mainly lies in its ability to respond as promptly as possible to the need of its citizens.
Please take care about water supply and maintain cleanness in market and provide some place for peoples who are selling fruits and vegetables in roadside. Because of this the wasted vegetables are throughout in griness and this cause bad smell and also effect on health. So my opinion is better to provide some place to avoids these problems
And mainly the availability of government buses are very poor because so many students which from village side they really suffer from this. So please provide this
Road construction is not effectively done concrete roads are not constructed as per technical and other aspects that's why after some days roads are getting damaged
In Davanagere roads are not so good ,and drainage and sanitation is to be improved .when compared to our neighboring city shimago dvg is to be improved lot. IT park is required ,dvg was popularly known as Manchester of Karnataka once upon time ,but not even single industry related to it.
