The association was registered at Chandigarh bearing registration no. is 186/79 under Trade union act 1927 with Com. N. L. Sikka & Com. N. S. Dhamoon being its 1st President & General Secretary respectively. Since then it has never looked back.

The Circle Association is proud to be an affiliate to All India State Bank Officers’ Federation, a pioneer in the trade union movement of Officers’ Community in the Country. The Federation is affiliated to All India Bank Officers’ Confederation, which is largest Trade Union of Officers in the entire world representing more than 2,10,000 officers of Banking Industry . At present, a militant and vibrant Circle Association having a membership of more than 5300 is led by Com. D P S Chhabra and Com. D. K. Sharma as President & General Secretary respectively.

The Circle Association is committed to the welfare of its membership as well as organization with the slogan “SBIOA-Zindabad SBI-Zindabad”. It created history by unanimously electing entire team of office bearers for the term 2000-2003 and repeated it for the term 2006-2009. It was the matter of great honor for the Association when it’s then General Secretary,Comrade Amar Pal was being elevated as the President of AISBOF as well as General Secretary of AIBOC. Another feather in the cap of the circle association was the appointment of Comrade Amar Pal as Officer-Director, on the Central Board of State Bank of India.

Chandigarh Circle Association has always been standing by the call of the Federation and ensured success in all the organizational programmes/activities. We are a part of the historic indefinite strike of 7 days from 3rd April to 9th April 2006 – a golden chapter in any militant struggle. At Circle level, we implemented two agitational programmes in a befitting manner. In 13 days long agitational programme in year 2009 against staff shortage, our militant membership forced the Corporate Centre to request the Federation to withdraw the agitation in Chandigarh Red Salute and Kudos to the committed, vigilant and militant membership of Chandigarh Circle for always rallying behind the leadership and spreading a message of solidarity and unity across the country.
