FAQ On IIB Vehicle Insurance
1. How is the age of the Vehicle Calculated?
The age of the vehicle (in years) is calculated as the difference of policy start date and date of first registration, rounded off to the closest integer. When the age of the vehicle is 0 it means vehicle is new. On the first renewal of the policy the age of vehicle will be 1.
For example :
** Date of purchase of vehicle and first Policy inception is 1/1/13 (the age will be zero here)
** Date of first Registration is 31/1/13
** Date of Policy Renewal is 1/1/14 then the age of the vehicle in this policy renewal record should be 1 and not 0.
2. How is Txt_Product_ID different from Txt_Insurer_Product_ID
The respective product-ID as approved by IRDA should be provided against Txt_Product_ID, if applicable. If it is not applicable, leave it blank.
The product-ID number as per Insurer’s own product-ID master should be provided against Txt_Insurer_Product_ID in all cases. Insurer shall submit their product-ID master (as on date) to IIB and shall update it from time to time, as and when there is a revision.
The Product ID master should contain the following information for each product :
** Product Name
** Insurer Product ID
** IRDA Product ID (if applicable)
Should the Orphan Claims be submitted to IIB?
As Orphan Claims do not have all the mandatory attributes, they need not be submitted in the existing tables as they will not pass the validation rules during data upload. In future, IIB will develop a separate Table for Orphan claims, with fewer attributes, and communicate the submission requirements to the Insurers.
Registration Number is not available at the time of Policy inception for the new vehicles. How and when should it be updated in the policy Table?
As soon as registration number is intimated, the same should be endorsed in the policy. Ideally no policy in force for more than 3 months should be without registration number.
