Renewal of Registration :

For renewal of existing registration, all registered manufacturer are required to submit the following to BIS at least one month in advance of the expiry of the validity date:

a) Renewal application form, FORM IX (available on BIS website) duly filled in and signed by CEO/authorized person of the factory. In case of foreign applicants, the application shall also be countersigned by the Indian representative.

b) Renewal Fee
i. Renewal Application Fee : Rs 1000/- + Taxes;
ii. Annual Registration fee for 2 years: Rs 2000/- + Taxes;
iii. Renewal processing fee : Rs 25000/- + Taxes.

c) Production Report as per the prescribed format attached with FORM IX, duly authenticated by Chartered Accountant or the equivalent authority in the respective countries. The quantity produced with marking of self-declaration/ Registration number shall also be given month wise.

d) Affidavit cum undertaking to be submitted along with renewal request:
i. For registered users located outside India:
– Nomination letter (as per Guideline dated 01 Feb 2016).
– Applicable affidavit cum undertaking as per Format A / Format B.
ii. For registered users located in India:
Affidavit as per Format C.

1. What is the Period for indicating Production details?
First Renewal:
From : Date of Grant of Registration
To : Three months before the current validity date
Subsequent Renewals:
From : Three months before the last validity date
To : Three months before the current validity date

2. If a Manufacturer has more than one Registration for the same product can he/she submit a single Renewal Application Form?
No. For each Registration Number, the Renewal Application has to be given separate with the production details for that particular Registration.

3. What is meant by ‘Name of Article’?
‘Name of Article’ means the name of the Product for which BIS has granted Registration to the Manufacturer.

4. What are the details to be given under ‘Quantity Marked’?
Total Quantity (in numbers) marked with BIS Registration Number for the reporting period for all Brands and all Models included in that Registration.

5. Who is the ‘Purchaser of the Article’?
Consignee to whom the Product is billed/sold by the manufacturer. Details of major consignees/distributors to whom the product has been despatched during the period may be given.
