** Sarathi and Vahan are the two flagship applications of MoRTH.
** These applications are brought under Mission Mode Project by NeGP which are Driven by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH).
** Sarathi & Vahan are designed, developed, implemented and supported by NIC.
** These applications are implemented across 1000+ RTOs of the country.
** The Driving Licence data is consolidated at State and National level through periodic replication process.
** Sarathi-on-Web facilitates public to submit applications for LL & DL related transactions thru this mode.
** The application data is in turn transferred to the remote RTO/DTOs of the states for further processing of the request (submitted thru ONLINE) at the local RTO/DTO Office.
** Services like E-payment GW, CSC , SSDG and Service partners are also being provided.
HOW TO ADD A NEW CLASS OF VEHICLE TO THE EXISTING DRIVING LICENCE?
I. NECESSITY:
A person holding an effective DRIVING LICENSE issued by a valid licensing authority only is enabled to drive a motor vehicle in any public place. Such person is entitled to drive the vehicle belonging to the particular class of vehicle which is mentioned in his/her driving license.
II. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
i. ADDRESS PROOF: (To produce any ONE of the following)
** Electoral Roll
** LIC Policy
** Passport
** Pay slip issued by any office of the Central Government or a State Government or a Local body
** Any other document(s) as may be prescribed by the State Government viz., Ration Card/Water Bill/Electricity Bill
ii. AGE PROOF: (To produce any ONE of the following)
** School Certificate
** Birth Certificate
** PAN Card
** Certificate granted by a registered medical practitioner not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon.
iii. VALID DRIVING LICENCE:
** Driving License which is issued by an authorized licensing authority which is effective as on the date of application for addition of another class of vehicle in the driving license.
** Learner License which is issued by an authorized licensing authority which is effective as on the date of application for driving license as well as on the date of the competency test.
iv. PHOTOGRAPHS:
** In all the computerized offices, it is enough to submit ONE recent passport size photograph.
** Wherever computerization is not done, the applicants may need to submit three numbers of recent passport size photographs.
v. MEDICAL CERTIFICATE:
** Applicants above the age of 50 years shall submit CMV Form-1A issued by a registered medical practitioner.
