Farmer Registration Form :
A system has been developed by India Meteorological Department and Ministry of Agriculture to provide weather based agromet advisories to the farming community through free SMS.

To avail this service, farmers are requested to get registered with their names and mobile numbers along the crops. Once registered, he farmers will receive SMS for their specific crops every week on day to day agricultural operations as well as extreme weather events.
Farmers are requested to fill up the registration form as per the instruction given below.
1. Enter the 10 digit mobile number starting with number 7 or 8 or 9.
2. Select the State, District and Block using drop down menu.
3. Select crop name from the drop down menu. At least one crop should be selected from the crop fields.
4. Enter the image text and press save.
5. Message will be displayed on the screen farmer registration is complete.

Crop Weather Studies and Preparation of Crop Weather Calendars :
In this Division extensive studies are made to find out the role of weather on crop growth, their development and based on that crop weather calendars are prepared for the major crops grown in the State.
The components of crop weather calendars include :
i) weather warning for the crops at various crop phenophases and
ii) normal weather (standard week-wise) along with weather favorable for pests and diseases development.
About Us :
The prime object of Agricultural Meteorology Division, India Meteorological Department(IMD), Pune is to minimize the impact of adverse weather on crops and to make use of crop-weather relationships to boost agricultural production.
The Agricultural Meteorology Division was established at Pune in 1932 and from its inception the Division supports and participates in multi-disciplinary activities in this field.
It is also the centre for research programmes in agricultural meteorology and has field units in various parts of the country. Besides, forecasts and advisories for farmers are issued by IMD’s Forecasting Offices located at different State capitals.
