Energy Saving Tips :
** Use Tubelights or CFL instead of bulbs.
** Use electronic chokes in Tube lights.

** Keep your electrical equipment and fixtures clean.
** Use faint colors to the walls.
** Switch off Tubelights, fans etc. when not in use.
** Use electronic regulators for fans instead of ordinary regulators.
** Defrost refrigerator regularly.
** Do not open refrigerator frequently.
** Ensure that the air-conditioned space is properly closed.
** Clean regularly the filters of air-conditioners.
** Set geyser thermostat at the minimum.
** Buy electrical equipments of ISI marks only.
** Do not overload washing machine more than the prescribed limit.

** Use flywheel wherever possible in case of jerk load or motor to start at heavy load.

Western Electricity Supply Company of Orissa Limited (WESCO) was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on November19, 1997 to carry out the distribution and retail supply business of electricity in the entire western region of Orissa. The Company secured the Certificate of Commencement of business on 30.12.1997 and started functioning as a wholly owned subsidiary of Grid Corporation of Orissa Limited (GRIDCO), a Govt of Orissa power utility, from November 26, 1998 under latter’s Distribution and Retail Supply License. Subsequently, the Company obtained its own license for Retail Supply from Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) with effect from April 1999. After privatisation of Distribution business under power sector reform process ,WESCO became a subsidiary of BSES Ltd , the premier Mumbai based Power Utility with acquisition 51 % majority share-holding.The authorised and paid up capital of the Company is 48.65 crores . The licensed area of operation of the Company is 48,000 sq. km and covers nine revenue districts of Western Orissa namely, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi.Our Corporate Office at Burla.

What happens if the power supply or fuse fails?
If your power supply fails, you may contact the fuse call centre of your area. The supplier within 4 hours of enquiry must intimate you regarding the likely time of restoration of supply.
Within 24 hours of receipt of the complaint, he must restore power supply, except in case of transformer failure and failures of 11 KV feeder including terminal equipment. In that case, the maximum period for restoration in 7 days.
What is my action for a disputed bill?
If your connected load is more than 10KW and you dispute the correctness of the bill, you may raise a dispute before the above designated officers of the licensee within due date after making full payment of the billed amount.
If your connected load is less 10KW or less, you shall pay the undisputed amount before raising the dispute.
How is the tariff decided?
Tariff and charges are determined by the commission only after an open public hearing on licensee’s application together with objections by various parties.
Further, the commission’s tariff department analyses all aspects before and after the hearing and consultation are made with the commission advisory committee before finalisation.
Revision in tariff is allowed only to the extent of gap between the licensee’s reasonable revenue requirement and aggregate revenue available under existing tariff.
