India BPO Promotion Scheme
The India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS), envisaged under Digital India Programme, seeks to incentivize establishment of 48,300 seats in respect of BPO/ITES operations across the country distributed among each State in proportion of State’s population, at an outlay of Rs. 493 Crore during the remaining period of 12th Five Year Plan, for creating Employment opportunities via IT and balanced regional growth of Information Technology and IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES) Sector in each State.

IBPS provides the following to the eligible Companies, to encourage the growth of the IT/ITES Industry through BPO/ITES operations:
Capital Support: Up to 50% of one time expenditure incurred on admissible items subject to upper ceiling of Rs. 1 lakh per seat
Special Incentives like :
** Incentive for diversity & inclusion
** Incentive for providing employment beyond target
** Incentive for wider dispersal within State including rural areas
** Incentive for promoting local entrepreneur
** Special Package for Hilly Region (Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir)
The scheme would be implemented to incentivize setting up of BPO/ITES operations across the country excluding certain Cities as specified and the States in North East Region (NER).
The benefits under IBPS would be available till the end of the 12th Five Year Plan i.e. March 31, 2017. The prospective units can apply under IBPS upto March 31, 2017, subject to availability of seats. However, considering disbursement schedule of the scheme, disbursement may go beyond 12th Five Year Plan.
Salient Features :
** Capital Support: Up to 50% of one time capital expenditure incurred on admissible items subject to an upper ceiling of Rs. 1 Lakh/seat.
** Special incentives toward employment of women & specially enabled persons.
** Incentive for generating employment beyond target & wider dispersal within state including rural areas.
** Encouragement for local entrepreneurs.
** Special consideration for Hilly states of HP, J&K and UK.
This scheme has potential to create employment opportunities of around 1.5 lakh direct jobs considering three shift operations. It may also create good number of indirect jobs.
