Mizoram IGNWPS
The scheme is known as ‘Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme’ (IGNWPS). It came into existence from February, 2009.

Objective of the Scheme is to give financial assistance @ Rs. 400/- per month total the identified pensioners who are widows of the age group of 40 years -64 years, and from BPL families . The coverage is universal and there shall not be any quota at any level.
Eligibility Criteria of Beneficiary :
For purpose of claiming central assistance, the following criteria shall apply :
a) The age of the widow shall be between 40-79 yrs.
b) The applicant must belong to a household below the poverty line ignop according to the criteria prescribed by the Government of India.
Amount of pension :
The central assistance under IGNWPS will be provided at the rate of Rs. 200 per month per beneficiary. The State Governments are urged to contribute at least equally towards the pension amount.
Specific condition regarding sanction of pension :
Sanction of pension to a beneficiary has to be made only after placing the database of beneficiary in the public domain/website of the Ministry or State.

** Aadhar card
** BPL ration card
** Bank details e.g. account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code
** Address proof e.g. certificate from residence authority
** Death certificate of Husband
** Age proof e.g. Voter ID
Application procedure :
Forms and procedures for scheme are very well explained at local govt. bodies like gram Panchayat, municipalities so applicant can get there and can get detailed information along with forms and other procedure
Main functions of the Commission are:
i) To investigate and examine all matters relating to the safeguards provide for Women under the constitution and other laws and recommend steps to be taken by the State Government for effective implementation of such safeguards.
ii) To take up the cases of violation of the provisions of the constitution and of other laws relating to women with the appropriate authorities, and
iii) To look into complains and take suo moto notice of matters relating to deprive of Women rights.
Old Age Pension :
The scheme of Old Age Pension was started during 1974-75 in Mizoram. It was given to 150 Old Age persons @ Rs 30/-p.m. per person who have no supporters or near relatives to support them. Since 2006-2007 the NOAPS was renamed as Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme .
Now beneficiaries who are 80 yearan and above enjoy Rs.500/- per month while 80 years below a beneficiary of Old Age Pension enjoys Rs.200/- monthly. The Government of Mizoram provides Rs.50/- per month per beneficiary for Old Age Pension scheme.
About Us :
Social Welfare was created as a small wing under Education Department during 1973 – 74 with one State Social Welfare Officer, one District Social Welfare Officer and a skeleton supporting staff. During 1974-75, the Social Welfare Wing was strengthened by posting one Programe Officer. This was further strengthened by creating two more posts of District Social Welfare Officers with minimum supporting staff for Lunglei and Chhimtuipui Districts during 1979 – 80.
