General FAQ On AMC

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation AMC

1. Is it necessary to obtain Fire safety opinion and NOC from Fire services for a building?
1st stage :
All buildings to be constructed have to get their plans approved from the Fire services to get information on guidelines and recommendations to be followed for Fire Protection and Safety, before the construction start.

2nd stage :
After the construction and installation of the required Fire Protection and after complete inspection of the Fire Protection system, earlier approved a NOC from the Fire service is issued.

2. How are building plans submitted for approval before construction of a building?
An application along with 2 sets of plans, containing write-up of required fire protection have to be submitted. There shall be 2 sets of plans which includes, layout, Elevation & AA section indicating the design and height of the floors and total height of the building, typical floor plans of each floor (if different), indicating service floor / skip floor / refuge floor – space.

3. How is a NOC for building obtained?
An application along with the earlier approved plans, necessary charges for inspection and NOC have to be paid, a CD containing photos & Videos of the operative Fire Protection system , staircase, fire lift, smoke management system of the building, lift certificate, contract letter for three years with photo identity for maintenance of the fire protection system (between the building authorities and the installer / fabricator who has installed the system or any agency undertaking maintenance of the system have to be submitted to the Fire services.

After complete Inspection at the site if all required Protection system is in place and operative a NOC is issued.

4. What are the charges to be paid for obtaining Fire Opinion or NOC for a building?
There are no charges for obtaining fire Opinion.  Charges for Inspection of buildings are as;
Building heights upto 30 metres- INR- 4000.
From 31 to 40 metres – INR-8000.
From 41 to 50 metres – INR – 12000.
From 51 to 60 metres – INR – 15000.
From 61 to 70 metres – INR – 25000.
These are charges for a fresh NOC for renewal these charges are halved.
NOC charges for each NOC is INR – 1000.

5. Time required for obtaining final Fire NOC?
Within 15 days of submission of application along with charges for Inspection and NOC. If the inspection is not successful then NOC shall be issued only after due corrections are done.

1. I have desperately tried to obtain certificate copy of my father’s birth certificate, who was born in 1916 in Tarapur (Anand). Can you assist me in getting of my father’s birth certificate? Since I need this for my OCI application.

2. The name of the father and mother has been wrongly spelt in English in the birth certificate of their son. How do I correct this? Both parents are out of India and they need the birth certificate in English for their son’s college admission. Please help.
