** You can get a digital copy of your Aadhaar (eAadhaar issued by UIDAI, Unique Identification Authority of India) directly in your DigiLocker account. All you have to do is to sign up for a DigiLocker account and sync it with Aadhaar – the digital Aadhaar automatically shows up in your issued documents section.

DigiLocker now allows citizens to access their digital Aadhaar. What is digital Aadhaar? Is it the same as the eAadhaar issued by UIDAI?
** Digital Aadhaar in DigiLocker is the same as eAadhaar issued by UIDAI (eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in). DigiLocker has partnered with UIDAI to make it available automatically to its users when they link their DigiLocker account with Aadhaar.

I have already signed up for DigiLocker and linked my Aadhaar. How can I get my eAadhaar in DigiLocker?
Here are the steps to get eAadhaar in DigiLocker if you already have Aadhaar linked DigiLocker account:
** Login to DigiLocker with your credentials.
** Upon login to DigiLocker, you will see a dialog box with a message to get your eAadhaar.
** Click on “Click here” link. OTP box will appear in the dialog.
** You will receive an OTP on your mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Enter this OTP in the OTP box and click “Verify OTP” button.
** On successful validation of the OTP you will be redirected to “Issued Document” page where URI for eAadhaar will be listed.
** Click on “Save” icon next to Aadhaar Card on “Issued Document” page. Your eAadhaar will be saved to “Uploaded Document” section.
I want to give up my Aadhaar. How and what needs to be done?
Presently there is no Policy to give up Aadhaar. However Aadhaar holders can secure their Biometric Authentication as per need by locking or unlocking Biometrics using “Lock/Unlock Biometrics” functionality at UIDAI official website “resident.uidai.gov.in”
Can NRIs also get Aadhaar?
As per the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, only a resident who has resided in India for a period or periods amounting in all to 182 or more in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment.
How to configure?
** Download mAadhaar android mobile application
** Create new resident profile.
** Navigate to TOTP page view, your TOTP should be visible and is valid for 30 seconds.
Why to use TOTP?
TOTPs avoid a number of shortcomings that are associated with traditional SMS based OTP. The most important shortcoming that is addressed by TOTPs is that resident will not be dependent on mobile network for SMS delivery. Generating and sending OTP requires users to go through a completely unrelated workflow.
