New Amendment Process :

For benefit of the registered dealers in the State and to facilitate trade and commerce, the process of amendment of Registration certificate under VAT Act, OET Act and CST Act has been simplified and a new process has also been introduced by the Commercial Tax Department. It requires that all the applications for Amendment is made electronically only.

The step by step process for applying for new amendment is given below :
** The dealer has to go to the CTD portal and log in using his User ID (TIN / SRIN) and password.
** After logging in the Home screen will be displayed. The dealer has to click on “Amendment” and the following screen will be displayed.
** The dealer will be required to select the “New Amendment” radio button to proceed to enter the details of required amendment. The following screen will be displayed.
** After selecting the type of amendment, details of amendment are to be entered by the dealer. For example, if a dealer wants to add another place of business as Additional Place of Business, he has to enter the details in the following screen which will be displayed by the system.
** Similarly, the dealer will be required to fill up the details for each entry of amendment requested. After entering all the required details, the dealer will be required to “Confirm” the details of amendment.

Once the details are confirmed, the amendment process will be carried out in two different ways :
** For amendments which would be done automatically; and
** For amendments which will require approval of the Registering Authority.

For Automatic Amendments :
Depending on the type of amendment requested by the dealer in the CTD portal, the system will verify if the category falls into automatic group or otherwise. If the type of amendment falls into the automatic group, the system will update the amendments in the registration certificate within next 24 hours and the updated registration certificate along with a history sheet will be made available in the portal for the dealer to download. The history sheet will be as shown on the screen.

For Non-Automatic Amendments :
In case the type of amendment falls into the category of non-automatic group, the dealer will be required to select a time slot as in case of registration process to submit the signed copy of the amendment application along with related documents at the concerned circle office.

The Commercial Tax Organisation came into being on the 1st April, 1947 with Head Quarters at Cuttack for collection of Sales Tax. It was in-charge of the “Collector of Commercial Taxes, Odisha”. As the Head of the Organisation, the post of “Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Odisha” was created w.e.f. 24th August, 1956. The “Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Odisha” replaced the “Collector of Commercial Taxes” w.e.f. 29th May, 1957.
