Application For Renewal Of Driving Licence :
Renewal of driving licence :
Renewal of your licence has to be applied within 30 days of expiry of your permanent driving licence to avoid any penalty. The following documents are required for renewal of a driving licence :

** Application in Form – 9
** Rs. 100.00 for fees and penalty if any as prescribed in Rule – 32
** 2 copies of recent passport size photograph
** Proof of age and residence
** Medical Certificate in Form – 1A
** In case of Commercial / Transport, H.M. Vehicle a driver refreshing Training Certificate.
Necessity :
In order to drive a motor car / vehicle in a public place one must possess a valid driving licence issued by the Licencing Authority. It is illegal to drive a motor car without having an effective driving licence and similarly no person shall drive a Transport Vehicle in a public place unless his driving licence specifically entitles him so to do.
Licencing Authority :
The District Transport Officer’s of various districts is the competent authority to issue driving licence in Assam.
Age Limit :
For applying for a licence one must be 18 (eighteen) years of age and for driving a transport vehicle one must be 21 (twenty one) years of age. But a person attaining the age of 16 (sixteen) years can drive a motor cycle with engine capacity not exceeding 50CC in a public place.
