VPN :
Virtual Private Network is most economical and secure method of connecting private networks over Internet. VPN helps mobile users to connect to their corporate network from Internet. NIC VPN Service is used by government officials to update their web sites and remote management of the servers hosted in NIC IDCs as well as access Intranet applications.
Instructions for Online Registration for VPN Connection :
1. The Section I of the form has to be filled by the user for accessing the following services located in NIC.
i) Updation of web sites and database
ii) Remote administration of co-located servers
iii) Network management and monitoring
iv) Access Intranet applications
2. The user will have to get their Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) from NICCA. The application form, cost of e-Token / Smart Card and other details are available at nicca.nic.in. Please contact NIC / Project coordinator for the same.
3. The Digital certificate in e-Token / Smart Card can be directly obtained from NICCA with the assistance to NIC Coordinator.
4. Users, who have the digital certificate issued by NICCA, can refer to Procedure to Register DC issued by NICCA for a VPN Connection on the VPN support page (https ://vpn.nic.in).
5. In 1.3 IP address of Web site, FTP server and Database server which are required to be accessed over VPN has to be filled.
6. The Section II has to be filled by the HOD / Project Coordinator.
7. The Section III has to be filled by NIC Coordinator.
8. The VPN application form for auditors has to be forwarded by Cyber Security Division.
9. For bulk VPN accounts to access fixed set of applications, the VPN application Form for Bulk account is required to be filled.

Procedure to Register DC issued by NICCA for a VPN Connection :
[b][u]1. Get a Digital Certificate from NICCA by filling the DSC Request form available at the following link, and submitting it to the NICCA.
2. After obtaining the Digital Certificate from NICCA, install the dongle driver available at the following link in your machine, icca.nic.in/html/datakey.html
3. Insert the dongle obtained into your machine.
4. Now open the Internet Explorer.
5. Open Internet Options in the Tools menu item in the Internet Explorer, as shown below.
6. Click on the Content tab and then the Certificates button in the center of the pop-up as shown below.
7. A list containing all the certificates present in your machine is displayed as shown below.
