What is Sikkim Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension?
The scheme “Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS)” is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme by the Department of Women & Child Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim. Under this scheme, financial support is provided to the poor widows of the state of Sikkim. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of the pension scheme. The beneficiary receives a monthly pension of ₹ 2000/- and the pension amount consists of the Central and State governments’ share.

Eligibility of Sikkim Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension
** The applicant should be a domicile of the state of Sikkim.
** The applicant should be from Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.
** The applicant should have attained the age of 21 years and above.
** The applicant should not have any source of income i.e. applicant should not be a recipient of salary / pension / family pension from Central Government / other State Governments.
** The applicant should have opened the Bank Account under “Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana”.
Note : If the beneficiary remarried, the pension shall be ceased to be drawn from the date of her re-marriage.

Registration:
Step-1: Visit the official website: https://pensionscheme.sikkim.gov.in
Step-2: Click “Create Account”. On the registration page, fill in the mandatory details (Username, Gender, First Name, Last Name, Email, Mobile Number, and Password). Fill in the Captcha Code and click “Register”. The login credentials will be sent to your registered Email ID / Mobile Number.
Application:
Step-1: Visit the official website: https://pensionscheme.sikkim.gov.in
Step-2: Click “Apply now” and log in.
Step-3: On the application page, fill in all the mandatory fields and upload the required documents in the appropriate file size and file type. Upon successful submission of the application, a system-generated application number will be provided as acknowledgment. Please keep it safe for future reference.
Documents Required For Sikkim Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension
** Recent passport size photographs – 3 Nos;
** Attested photocopy of Sikkim Subject Certificate / Certificate of Identification as the case may be i.e. Income certificate, Caste certificate.
** Attested photocopy of Below Poverty Line Certificate.
** Birth Certificate or Electoral photo Identity Card or any other valid document having recorded the date as proof of age.
** Attested copy of Aadhar Card.
** Attested photocopy of first page of Bank / Post Office Passbook along with the photocopy of latest updated account.
** Death Certificate of Husband bearing name of legal wife/widow.
** Non-marriage Certificate.
** Proof of occupation of deceased husband.
