Chennai Corporation Trade Licence

As per the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, no place within the limits of Chennai Corporation shall be used for running trades and installation of machineries or electric motors or other power equipments without a licence obtained from the Chennai Corporation and renew it every financial year on paying prescribed license fee.

The applicants who are willing to start a new trade have to apply for the new licenses/renewal to the respective Zonal Offices. Any person who runs the trade without a valid licence from the Chennai Corporation is liable to be prosecuted in a Court of law. Hence, the traders are requested to apply for the new/renewal trade licence at the respective Zonal Offices without any further delay in order to avoid penal action.

Documents To Be Enclosed With The Application :
** Application Form
** Approved Plan of the Building (or) A certificate From the Zonal Exe.Engr. Confirming That the Buildings is Atleast 15 years old.
** No objection Certificate From the HouseOwner.
** Copy of the updated receipt of Property Tax.
** Copy of the Receipt of Profession Tax
** No objection Certificate From the Officer of the District Fire Service
** A Certificate From the Factory Inspector
** No objection Certificate From the Neighbourhood

Hotels & Restaurants Only:
** Report on Drinking Water from a Recognised Institute
** Fitness Certificate of Cook
** Annual renewal of licence is during Feb.1 to 14.
** Application Form can be Had by Sending Demand Draft for of Rs.50/- Drawn In favour of Revenue Officer, Corporation Of Chennai.
** Licence Fee can also paid by way of Demand Draft Drawn In favour Of Revenue Officer, Corporation Of Chennai.
** If the Licence can Not renewed Within the Stipulated Period,such Cases shall Be treated As a new One.

Application viz Citizen Service Request Module :
** Citizen will approach the Citizen Facilitation Counter established in respective Zonal Office with his application duly signed.
** The counter operator will login the portal by using his user name and password and enter the details of the application.

** Once Counter operator submitted the application, the acknowledgement slip will be generated with a registration number and the message will also be sent to the applicant through SMS,

** The details of the applicant shall be moved to the inbox of respective ARO of the Zone for field verification of site,

** After field verification, the A.R.O., will submit the application before the trade licence committee headed by the Zonal Officer along with the Demand Draft towards licence fee obtained from the applicant.

** Trade licence will be issued to the applicant through email or through postal department after the approval of the trade licence committee if the norms are complied with by the applicant or the application will be rejected if the norms are not complied with by the applicant.

Renewal of Chennai Corporation Trade Licence

Provision has also been given for the renewal of trade licence online. By using the citizen portal, the licence can generate the trade licence after making payment online (option is to pay for trade licence renewal.

The enclosed Documents Will be Forwarded To the Executive Engineer (Town Planning) for Proper Verification And to Certify the Location for Trade Purpose and For issue of Licence. The applicant Should pay The Profession Tax while Submitting Application. If the Application is Rejected, the Profession Tax Will be refunded
