Technical Course Students Regulations :

Add-On Technical Courses For The Students Of Arts & Science Colleges Regulations :
Introduction :
** The Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education has announced in the Legislative Assembly, while moving the demand for grant for Higher Education in the year 2007 – 2008, that Addon Technical Courses would be conducted in Polytechnic Colleges for the benefit of students of Govt. Arts and Science Colleges in the State to enhance their employable opportunity.

** Under this Scheme, the Students of Arts & Science Colleges will get an opportunity to undergo additional Job-oriented, Technical, Short-Term Course in Polytechnic Colleges during holidays and evening hours along with their regular Degree Courses.
** The main objectives of the Courses are to enhance the Technical Skills and the Employment potentiality of Students of Arts & Science Colleges for better placement.
** To this effect the Govt. of Tamil Nadu have issued a G.O.(MS) No. 197 Higher Education (G1) dt. 22.06.2009.

Description of the Courses :

Certificate Course (Six Months):
** The course is of 96 hours duration of study for the period of six months.
** The classes will be conducted on week end holidays (Saturdays and Sundays) or any of the working days in the evening for two hours duration per day.
** Thus the classes will be conducted for 4 hours per week (24 weeks X 4 hours per week = 96 hrs) to complete the specified Syllabus.

Certificate Course (One Year):
** The course is of 192 hours duration of study for the period of twelve months.
** The classes will be conducted on week end holidays (Saturdays and Sundays) or any of the working days in the evening for two hours duration per day.
** Thus Classes will be conducted for 4 hours per week (48 weeks X 4 hours per week = 192 hrs) to complete the specified Syllabus.

Eligibility for Admission :
** Second & Third Year regular under graduate students of Govt. Arts & Science Colleges of TamilNadu attached to the respective Polytechnic Colleges as specified in G.O. 4. Attendance:
** 80 % attendance is mandatory to appear for the Board Theory and Practical Examinations conducted by the State Board of Technical Education & Training .
** If any candidate fails to acquire 80% of the attendance, then they have to forego their candidature and seek admission again afresh

Examinations :
** Common Board Examinations for all the Certificate Courses under Add-on Technical Course Scheme will be conducted by the State Board of Technical Education & Training at the end of course duration i.e. 6 months or 1 Year as the case may be.
** Generally for the Six Month Certificate Courses the Board Examination will be conducted twice in a year during the month of April as well as in the month of October, where as for the One Year Certificate Courses the Board Examination will be conducted only in the month of April as indicated in the Government Order.
** The Record for every completed exercise should be submitted in the subsequent Practical classes and marks should be awarded for 10 for each exercise as per the above allocation.
** At the end of the Course, the average marks of all the exercises should be calculated for 10 marks.

Criteria for Pass :
** A candidate shall be declared to have passed the examination in a course if he/she secures not less than 40% in theory component and 50% in practical component if any out of the total prescribed maximum marks.
** If a candidate fails in Board Examinations, he/she has to re do entire Course again by paying the prescribed fees for appearing in the subsequent Board Examinations

Award of Certificate :
** No candidate shall be eligible for the Certificate unless he/she has undergone the prescribed course of study for a period of not less than 6 months or 1 Year in an academic year in any Institution (Polytechnic College) attached to the Govt.
** Arts and Science Colleges of Tamil Nadu. The Certificate will be issued for the passed candidates under the Seal of State Board of Technical Education. and Training.
