Registers to be maintained by the Medical Council :
Karnataka Medical Council shall maintain a register (computer data based) showing the names of accredited organizations conducting C.M.E. programmes indicating the year for which the accreditation is valid and the names of registered medical practitioners with their registration No., Council with which registered, number of credit hours of C.M.E. attended by them (indicating the date/moth/year) for the purpose of record so as to ensure that each medical practitioner fulfills the criteria of attending 30 credit hours in a period of 5 years qualifying them for Re-Registration.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (C.M.E) :
CME Accreditation Charges w.e.f. 1st January 2014
A nominal fee of Rs.1000 / day / CME / workshop / conference will be charged by KMC for all the applications received from 1st January 2014. Payments to be made through DD favouring The Registrar , KMC payable at Bangalore.

Revised CME credit hours allotment w.e.f. 1st January 2014
As per MCI guidelines , any CME program / conference / workshop of 8 hours duration will be allotted Two Credit Hours. A CME program / conference / workshop with less than 4 hours duration will not be considered for CME accreditation. Henceforth this allotment criteria will be followed for all applications received from 1st January 2014.

CME Certificate Format

All the CME / workshop / conference certificates which are sent to the KMC – CME accreditation committee should compulsorily have the names , KMC registration no: of all delegates printed on them , failing which they will not be considered for cme accreditation.

Changed Age Limit for Credit Hours Accumulation
All doctors / medical practitioners are required to gain gain 30 Credit Hours in five years (maximum 6 Credit Hours / year) by attending various conference / CME / workshop till the age of 65 YEARS and get their KMC Registration renewed once in 5 years. After 65 YEARS of age, the doctors / medical practitioners are not required to accumulate Credit Hours. BUT RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION IS COMPULSORY ONCE IN EVERY 5 YEARS.

C.M.E. Hall available for Rent at K.M.C. II Building
Situated at 16/6 Miller Tank Bed Area, Vasanthnagar, Bangalore-560052 It is meant only for Professional Bodies of Medical Faculty to utilize C.M.E. Hall for conducting small conferences, Medical Educational Programmes and C.M.E. Programmes.

The Rent details are as follows :
** Rs.10,000/- per day.
** Rs.7,000/- half day.

Exemptions from credit points :
All the below mentioned categories of exemption and doctors after completing 65 years of age are exempted from credit points but renewal is mandatory.

ALL EXEMPTED CATEGORIES WILL HAVE TO DO RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION.
01. Ministers .
02. Indian Administrative Services Officers (I.A.S).
03. Vice Chancellor of Health University.
04. Dean/Directors and Principals of Medical College.
05. Director of Medical Education & Research.
06. Director Health Sciences.
07. Doctors working with Armed Forces.
08. In special cases, chairman KMC on recommendation of KMC member, can give rebate or exemption from credit points.
