How To Renew Tamil Nadu Medical Council ID Card?
1. All details to be filled in Capital and Bold letters only.

2. Three recently taken Stamp size photographs should be sent, one affixed in the space provided for and others enclosed to the Application Form.
3. The prescribed fee for issuing identity card is Rs. 150/- by Demand Draft.
4. Draft alone will be accepted and it should be drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Chennai.
5. Xerox copy of Medical Registration certificate.
6. Xerox copy Photo identification (i.e. driving licence / voters I.D. card / Passport / or any other proof for identification.
7. Affix postage stamps for Rs. 22/- on the self addressed envelope which is attached herewith

Documents Required for Change of Name
1. One Requisition letter addressed to the Registrar, Tamil Nadu Medical Council stating your Name, Qualification, Changed Name, Registration Certificate Number and Date of Registration.
2. Demand Draft for Rs.500/-(Rupees Five Hundred Only) drawn in favour of “The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Chennai” Payable at Chennai
3. Xerox copy of the Gazette Notification in respect of Change of Name or Marriage Certificate
4. If you send the Original & Xerox Medical Registration Certificate , the Changed name will be endorsed on the Certificate.
5. Self Addressed cover affixed with Postage stamps for Rs.32/-
About Us :
The Tamil Nadu Medical Council is a Statutory Body established under the provisions of the TN Medical Registration Act 1914 (Act IV of 1914). This state body is the Tamil Nadu unit of the Medical Council of India. It does all the works of the Medical Council of India except the Medical Education. It maintains the registry of doctors practising in the state.
Apart from the Registry of doctors, the Tamil Nadu Medical Council acts as the disciplinary body for all doctors of modern medicine and imparts, monitors adherence to medical ethics by the medical fraternity. It acts on alleged medical negligence.
It awards credit points for CME and insists that all doctors to regularly update their medical knowledge. The Tamil Nadu Medical Council has passed a resolution to make credit points compulsory and start mandatory re-registration every 5 years from 2017.

Functions of Tamil Nadu Medical Council
The Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) is a statutory body established under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Medical Registration Act, 1914. The TNMC is responsible for the registration and regulation of medical practitioners in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The TNMC has a number of functions, including:
** Registering medical practitioners who have qualified from recognized medical institutions.
** Issuing practicing licenses to registered medical practitioners.
** Maintaining a register of all registered medical practitioners in the state.
** Investigating complaints against registered medical practitioners.
** Taking disciplinary action against registered medical practitioners who have been found guilty of misconduct.
** Promoting the maintenance of high standards of medical practice in the state.
