Kishori Shakti Yojna :
** Kishori Shakti Yojna aims at improving the health, nutrition, education and social status of adolescent girls (11-18 Years) are at most advantageous level.

** This scheme is a holistic invites for the development of adolescent girls and bring out change in their lives.
** This scheme is a redesign of the already existing adolescent girls (AG) Scheme being implemented as a component under the centrally sponsored Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.
** It attempts to make the adolescent girls a better future mother.
** The new scheme vividly extends the coverage of the earlier scheme with significant content enrichment, strengthens the training component, particularly in skill development, aspects aimed at empowerment and enhanced self-perception.
** Kishori Shakti Yojna being implemented through Anganwadi Centres in both rural and urban areas.
** It also gives training to the Anganwadi Workers for providing the proper guidance to the adolescent girls.
Objectives of Scheme :
** To improve nutritional and health status of adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 years;
** To provide required literacy and numeric skills through non-formal education;
** To train and equip the girls for up gradation of their vocational skills.
** Promote awareness of health, hygiene, family care which could help them for better understanding of social environment
** To encourage adolescent girls to initiate various activities to be productive and useful members of the society.
** The Scheme will be implemented in all 79 ICDS Projects from the current financial year.
** For the implementation of the scheme the Ministry has earmarked Rs.1.10 lakhs per block/ICDS Project and as such, the total budget for the year 2009-10 would be Rs.86.90 Lakhs.
