Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum :

TANGEDCO has introduced a new facility for the consumers to register their grievances online with the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum of the concerned circle.

The Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum consists of Superintending Engineer/Electricity Distribution Circle as Chairperson and two members nominated by the Collector of the District where the forum is located.

Every grievance to the forum can be submitted to the concerned SE office in two ways.

Method 1 : Manual The grievance to the forum may be submitted in writing to the Chairperson of the forum in the complaint format given in Annexure-I. Within seven working days of receipt of a consumer’s grievance, the forum shall send an acknowledgment to the complainant.The Complainant shall be informed in writing if the complaint is rejected.

Method 2 : Online The grievance to the forum may also be registered online through this portal using “Petition Entry” menu and the online acknowledgement for registration alone will be received immediately by the complainant and its printout can be taken. The status of the petition whether accepted or rejected by the concerned CGRF can be checked by the consumer online through “Petition Status” menu.

The complainant can represent himself or through a representative of his choice to appear before the forum.

Appropriate Order shall be passed based on the merits/demerits of the complaint within a maximum period of 2 months from the date of receipt of complaint by the forum.

The proceedings and decisions of the forum will be communicated to the licensee and to the complainant for compliance.

Any complainant aggrieved by an Order made by the forum may prefer an appeal against such Order to the Electricity Ombudsman within a period of 30 days from the date of the Order.

Guidelines :
** Consumer can register the petition through ‘Petition Entry’ menu.
** Once the petition has been registered a petitionID will be created. The complainant shall track the petition using this petition ID and the status can be viewed using ‘Petition Status’ menu.
** In order to view the orders issued by the CGRF of concerned circle, Click the ‘Latest Orders’ menu. In that page select your circle.
** All the CGRF petitions(received via online/manual) for which order has been passed will be listed out.
** Click the petition of your interest to download the orders passed.

About Us :
Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) was formed on July 1, 1957 under section 54 of the Electricity (Supply) Act 1948 in the State of Tamil Nadu as a vertically integrated utility responsible for power generation, transmission and distribution.

The electricity network has since been extended to all villages and towns throughout the State. TNEB was restructured on 1.11.2010 into TNEB Limited; Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO); and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO).

  1. complianted booked 1.12.2021 status page showed only compliant register,no 112211XXXXXX,udamalpet circle,any action not taken by the tneb,may be taken action against my complianted early,no reply sent to me about my petition,
    for kindly information, another petition (written petition) to AEE/town/Udamalpet sent by me through post office,no reply at all

    Consumer Number 261-014-150 Lekha Srinivasan – Srirangam

    On 19-4-2016 I paid a sum of Rs 1000/- advance through Internet Banking System- State Bank of India- Srirangam against anticipated consumption. Having noted no credits reflected. I followed the matter with Local TNEB Office and my Banker SBI and having failed, both blaming each other and TNEB telling me to go Chennai to resolve at you end (Chennai).

    I on my own investigated and located the relevant Credit having been credited to one Consumer Mr K. Rangarajan 5 Warren Road Chennai -600 004. I located this through his Bill 01128030424 being reflected in my account on Internet Transaction released by TNEB on my account while requesting payment for current bill. My obvious reference is the miss allocation has taken place at TANGEDCO’s end. I now request to make appropriate adjustment and give credit to me.
