State Schemes/Programmes
Old Age Pension Scheme:
The Scheme aims at promising financial assistance to the poor and infirm persons above 60 years of age and living below the poverty line. A monthly pension @ Rs 150/- is provided to any person male or female, who has attained the age of 60 years and is recognized Scheduled Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh will be eligible for assistance under Scheme.

However, the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Arunachal Pradesh has announced enhancement of monthly pension from Rs.150/- to Rs.200/- from the current financial year in his budget speech and the matter is taken up.
Assistance to Arunachal Pradesh State Social Welfare Board :
For maintenance of headquarter establishment of Arunachal Pradesh State Social Welfare Board (APSSWB), Grants-in-aid is provided by the Department. Till the year 2004-2005, 10 PICs were also run the APSSWB and fund for maintenance of 10 PICs were also released by the Department. But from the year 2005-2006, all the 10 PICs have been closed and the staff of PICs have been attached in this Department as dying cadre.
Awareness and Publicity :
Under this Scheme, various welfare programmes of this Department are given wide publicity to create awareness in the general public especially the intended beneficiaries by way of displaying hoardings, publicizing brochures, conducting seminars, etc.
Inter-Tribe Marriage:
The Scheme aims at providing financial incentive for encouraging in-tribe marriage amongst the recognized tribes of the State of Arunachal Pradesh A lump-sum amount of Rs 20,000/- is provided to the married couple. Purpose of extending incentives is to remove differences between different tribes and to maintain communal harmony, integrity and develop congenial social relationship as a whole and for mutual co-existence among different tribals in the state. So far, no proposals has been received by the department under this scheme.
Women Welfare Programme:
Under the Scheme, the selected group of women are imparted vocational trainings and taken to various places for undertaking study tours to educate them about the development of rural women in those areas.
Children in need of care and protection :
Under this Scheme, financial assistance is provided to Voluntary Organisation / Non-Governmental Organisation for maintenance of “Home” for destitute and orphan children with the underlying objects to provide them formal education, free boarding and lodging and vocational training and finally rehabilitation them.
As per approved pattern of Scheme, 90% grant is provided by the Government and residual 10% is to be borne by the NGOs /VOs.
Grants-in-aid to State Commission for Women :
The State Commission for Women has been set – up in the year 2004-05 in the State to promote and protect the interest and safe guard the rights of women. The main roles of the Commission are to review the laws, looking into specific cases of complaints of atrocities, harassment, denial of rights and exploitation of women and taking remedial action to restore their legitimate rights.
