Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme

Objectives :
** Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme (MRMBS) is implemented with an objective of providing assistance to poor pregnant women to ensure the access to nutritional food and compensating the wage losses during pregnancy.

** Cash assistance of Rs.12, 000 under this scheme is disbursed in three instalments (Rs.4000/- Per Instalment) to poor pregnant women directly by ECS from treasury / treasury bank to beneficiary bank account.

Eligibility Criteria

First Installment:
Pregnant lady should have the mandatory antenatal care checkups including TT immunization up to 7th month of pregnancy in government institutions.

Second Installment:
Immediately after delivery in a Government Health Facility

Third Installment:
After third dose penta-valent immunization of the child during fourth month.

Specific data to be entered for eligibility of the mother under MRMBS:
** Minimum of 3 Antenatal Checkup details are to be entered on or before 7 month of pregnancy to become eligible to receive Ist Installment.
** Details of Delivery are to be entered to to become eligible to receive IInd Installment.
** The details of Immunization for the child are to be entered up to IIIrd dose of Pentavalent (DPT + Hepatitis B + Hib )

Public Health & Preventive Medicine :
The Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is responsible for the implementation of various National and State Health Programmes. This Department also plans and implements measures to prevent the occurrence of communicable diseases thereby reducing the burden of morbidity mortality and disability in the state.

The activities undertaken by the department of public Health and Preventive Medicine are provisions of primary health care,which includes Maternity and Child Health Services, Immunisation of children against vaccine preventable diseases,control of communicable diseases,control of malaria, filaria, japanese encephalitis, elimination of leprosy, iodine deficiency disorder control programme, prevention of food adulteration, health checkup of school children, health eduction of the community and collection of vital statistics under birth and death registration system and environmental sanitation.
