How To Download KTBS Text Book Online?

Our aim is to provide easy on-line access to all our text books by hosting these on our web-site. We expect that students, teachers would benefit from this access.

In addition, teachers from other states, education functionaries, researchers, individuals and organizations working in the education sector all over the country, even all over the world, can now access the text books.

To begin with, we are providing access to all text books of Class X, for Kannada and English medium of instruction for all the subjects. Our aim is to gradually cover all classes and all mediums.

We have kept the site and access simple. You need to select a particular Class, medium and subject The list of chapters will be populated below. Clicking on the chapter link would open a pdf document in a new tab.

Clicking on a chapter title in this page would open the chapter itself in the form of a PDF file which can be viewed on-line. You can also click on the SAVE icon in this window, to save this specific chapter on to your computer, giving a title of your choice. In case you do not want to view individual chapters, but want to download the entire text book onto your own machine, you can click on the button.

This would download a zip file, containing all the chapters of the selected text, onto the folder specified by you. Clicking on this zip file would extract all the individual chapters in form of separate PDF files. You will need a utility such as winzip, to unzip the zip file.

About us :
Karnataka Text Book Society ® came into existence on 01.04.2006 in accordance with the provisions of the Government order No. ED 95 DGO 2005, Bangalore Dt.04/01/2006 promulgated to form an umbrella body in the context of all Government approved school textbooks preparation, printing and distribution activities.

This is in accordance with the recommendations of Dr. K.P. Surendranath Committee to have an autonomous body in the form of Society. The society was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1966 on 12.05.2006.

Functions of KTBS

The Karnataka Textbook Society (KTS) is a statutory body under the Department of Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka. It was established in 1967 with the objective of providing quality textbooks to students of Government, aided and unaided schools in Karnataka.

The KTS is responsible for the following functions:
** Preparation of textbooks: The KTS prepares textbooks for all classes from 1 to 10 in all subjects. The textbooks are prepared by a team of experts in the respective fields.
** Printing and distribution of textbooks: The KTS prints and distributes textbooks to all schools in Karnataka. The textbooks are distributed free of cost to students of Government schools. Students of aided and unaided schools have to purchase the textbooks.
** Providing feedback on textbooks: The KTS collects feedback from teachers and students on the textbooks. The feedback is used to improve the quality of the textbooks.
** Providing other educational materials: The KTS also provides other educational materials, such as workbooks, activity books, and reference books. These materials are available for purchase by students and teachers.
