** The Central Index Server also acts as an exchange for transmission/routing of information pertaining to transactions on each policy between an insurer and the insurance repository.

Functions of IIB

An Insurance Information Bureau (IIB) is a non-profit organization that collects and disseminates insurance data. IIBs are typically funded by insurance companies and are governed by a board of directors.

IIBs play a number of important roles in the insurance industry, including:
** Providing data to insurers: IIBs collect data on claims, policies, and other aspects of the insurance industry. This data can be used by insurers to price policies, develop new products, and manage their risk.
** Fighting fraud: IIBs work to identify and prevent insurance fraud. This includes sharing information with law enforcement and working with insurers to develop fraud prevention programs.
** Educating consumers: IIBs educate consumers about insurance. This includes providing information on how to choose the right insurance, how to file a claim, and how to avoid fraud.
** Promoting competition: IIBs can help to promote competition in the insurance industry by providing insurers with access to data and by fighting fraud. This can lead to lower prices and better products for consumers.
