Why Central Index Server? :
As per the clause 20.7 of insurance repository guidelines by IRDA, no customer can have more than one e-account across all Insurance repositories.
Therefore repositories need to create necessary mechanism / platform to facilitate a central query and validation of e-Insurance accounts.
This facility can be used by insurers and approved persons to check the existence of e-account before accepting the KYC application form.
Insurance repository services by the 5 repositories would be used by over 50 insurance companies.
IRs and Insurers exchange large chunks of information (data and images) everyday.
So, a simple, reliable and cost effective methodology is required for this exchange.
Central index server provides solutions to all these requirements.
