Learner’s Driving Licence :

Procedure to get Learner’s Driving Licence :
Step 1 :
Purchase the ‘Learner’s Licence’ File from the R&LA Sale counter Download this File/requisite Forms from this website as per the Checklist. to view the Checklist and download the requisite Forms

Step 2 :
Read the instructions mentioned in the File/Forms carefully.

Step 3 :
Complete and attach all the required Documents/Forms as per the CheckList.
Step 4 :
Submit your complete file & fees at the concerned DL counter at the R&LA office and collect your Fee Receipt. view the File Submission location & timings.

Step 5 :
Go to the Photo Studio to get your photograph & biometrics on the Learner’s Licence.

Step 6 :
Appear for the Learner’s License Computer Test (STALL) at the concerned STALL counter.

Step 7 :
If you pass the test, collect your Learner’s License from the concerned LL Distribution Counter at the R&LA Office
OR
If you fail in the test, come after 15 days to reappear in the test

Note :
This is a downloaded File. In order to deposit the same, the applicant has to collect the ‘File receipt’ from the R&LA File Sale Counter after depositing the concerned File Fee.
Please bring the original documents whose attested photocopies have been attached with the file.

How does the Learner’s License authorized me to drive – :
It allows you to learn driving with a regular and experienced driver of your choice. If you want to drive a motor car or a two-wheeler, this should be along with a friend, relative or an instructor of a driving school who holds a valid driving License . If you wish to become a professional driver and drive commercial, passenger or goods vehicles, you will have to get yourself trained at a driving school duly recognized by the Transport Department.

The following points need to be kept in mind by a Learner’s License holder :
** The learner’s License holder should get training under the supervision of a Permanent driving License holder.
** The learner License holder has to display symbol –L in a Red colour that should be visible from a distance.
** In case of commercial vehicle, the learner licensee has to undergo training either from Government Motor Driving School or Motor Driving Schools authorized by the State Government.
** In addition to practical training, the learner’s License holder should also learn about the vehicles’ mechanism, road symbols or signs etc.
** If you are learning how to drive a two-wheeler, you cannot carry any other person on the pillion except your instructor.
