Procedure to Regular Driving Licence :

Step 1 :
Purchase the‘Regular Driving Licence’ File from the R&LA Sale
OR Download this File/requisite Forms from this website as per the Checklist. view the Checklist and download the requisite Forms

Step 2 :
Read the instructions mentioned in the File/Forms carefully.

Step 3 :
Complete and attach all the required Documents/Forms as per the CheckList.

Step 4 :
Go for the Regular Driving License Test.

Step 5 :
If you pass the test, collect your file/ file receipt from the examiner
OR If you fail in the test, come again to reappear in the test after number of days prescribed by the examiner.

Step 6 :
Submit your complete file & fees at the concerned DL counter at the R&LA office and collect your Fee Receipt.

Step 7 :
Your Driving License (DL) will be dispatched to you via Speed Post, and will be delivered at your given address.

Note :
** This is a downloaded File. In order to deposit the same, the applicant has to collect the ‘File receipt’ from the R&LA File Sale Counter after depositing the concerned File Fee.
** Please bring the original documents whose attested photocopies have been attached with the file.
Transport Vehicle License is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.

Driving License valid :
License to drive a Non-Transport Vehicle is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or until the holder attains the age of 50 years, whichever is earlier. After that, the License is renewed every 5 years.

Is there any penalty, if Driving License is renewed in case of delay – :
Yes, Rs. 15/- late fee is charged, if applicant, unable to get Driving License renewed within one month from the date of expiry of Driving License .

When will the Driving License delivered after depositing the file – :
The Driving License is delivered to the applicant through Speed Post at his given address within a week.

What to do if you don’t have any Date of Birth proof – :
If the applicant does not have a Date of Birth proof or in case of illiterate person, then a Certificate of age confirmation is required from Medical Officer of any government hospital/ dispensary.

What to do if you don’t have any signature identification – :
If the applicant does not have any signature identification, then three specimen signatures are required, which are attested by a Gazetted Officer alongwith a photograph.

** Learner’s Licence (In original, duly passed by the designated examiner)
** Form No. 8 PDF (If applicable, Application for the addition of a new class of vehicle to a Driving Licence)
** Driving Licence (If applicable, in case of addition of a new class of vehicle, in original)
** Driving School Certificate (If applicable, in case of Commercial Vehicle Licence)
