Required Documents For Driving Licence Renewal

Following documents are required for RTO Karnataka Driving Licence Renewal

What are the documents to be given :
** Valid learner’s licence.
** Documents of vehicle in which applicant proposes to appear for test of competence to drive vehicle (such as Regn. Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under control Certificate, Fitness Certificate in case of Transport Vehicle).
** In case of transport vehicle, certificate in form CMV 5 issued by Driving Training School.

When Driving Licence will be ready :
Driving licence will be delivered on the next day between 4.30 – 5.30 pm.

What is period of validity of Driving Licence :
** Driving licence issued is valid throughout India.
** Driving licence is issued for 20 years or 50 years of age whichever is earlier.
** Driving licence issued for transport vehicle will be valid for three years.

1. If FAILED in Test of competence to drive ?
The applicant who has failed in test of competence to drive can collect his application along documents and can reappear for the test after 7 days by paying retest fees of Rs. 50/-.

2. When Driving Licence will be ready ?
DL will be dispatched through speed post within 30 days as per SAKALA (KGSC Act, 2011)

3. What is Driving Test (Test of competence to drive) ?
The Inspector of motor vehicles will conduct the test of competence to drive vehicle as per the procedures laid down under the rule 15 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. After satisfaction about the driving skills he will pass his recommendations about the issue of driving licence.The Asst. R.T.O. after satisfying himself will pass an order to issue driving licence.

4. What are the application forms required ?
** Application form in CMV 4 available at the enquiry counter.
** 3 recent passport size photographs.

About Us :
The Department of Transport was constituted by Government Order No.T6811:6865 RT :53-54:10 Dated 03-03-1955 vide Notification 4285-98 MV-23-56-57 Dated 27-08-1956. Then it was named as Motor Vehicles Department. Thereafter, the Department was re-named as TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT.

1. On 17/07/2017, I had given my driving licence for renewal which expires on 24/07/2017 after paying renewal fee, doctor certificate, Aadhaar copy, photos, my old driving licence all attached and submitted to RTO Mysore east (KA-55). Till today, I have not received even I have attached postal cover with postal stamps.

2. I understand that Rs. 1000/ will be charged as penal fees if the driving license is not renewed before the expiry date. This is the new fee announced by our central government (BJP). I feel this fine is too high. We have to fight & bring down this fine. I got this information today when I had been to RTO Jaynagar, Bangalore.

  4. I UNDERSTAND THAT RS. 1000/ WILL BE CHARGED AS PENAL FEES IF THE DRIVING LICENSE IS NOT RENEWED BEFORE THE EXPIRY DATE. THIS IS THE NEW FEE ANNOUNCED BY OUR CENTRAL GOVERNMENT (BJP). I FEEL THIS FINE IS TOO HIGH. WE HAVE TO FIGHT & BRING DOWN THIS FINE. I GOT THIS INFORMATION TODAY WHEN I HAD BEEN TO RTO JAYNAGAR BANGALORE SOUTH STATE OF KARNATAKA.
