List Of Fees Related To Licencing :
Purpose Amount of Fees :
** In respect of issue or renewal of learner’s licence of each class of vehicle Rs. 30/-
** In respect of issue of a driving licencing in Form-6 Rs. 40/-
** In respect of issue of a International driving permit in Form-6 A Rs. 500/-
** In respect of issue of a driving licence in Form-7 Rs. 200/- including the cost of computerized chip.
** For test of competence to drive Rs. 50/-
** In respect of addition of another class of vehicle to driving licence in Form-6 Rs. 100/- and an additional fee at the rate of Rs. 50/- for a period of delay of one year.
** In respect of renewal of driving licence in Form-6 Rs. 50/-
** In respect of renewal of a driving licence in Form-6 to drive a motor vehicle for which application is made after the grace period.

Necessity of Permit :
As per the Section 66(1) of M.V.Act.1988 no owner of a motor vehicle shall use or permit the use of the vehicle as Transport Vehicle in any public place unless he obtains a permit from Regional or State Transport Authority.

About Us :
Transport Department of the Govt.of Assam is one of the major revenue earning departments. This department yields handsome revenue to the Govt. exchequer every year. This department occupies a special position among all the revenue earning departments of Assam.

Originally, Transport Department was under the care and control of Home Department, Govt. of Assam till the last part of 1950. The affairs of Transport Department were looked after by an officer of the rank of Inspector General of Police during the relevant period of time.
