Grievances & Redresses :
** Grievance Cell functions at the State Police Hdqrs as well as offices of all district Ss.P. and other heads of police establishments like Crime Branch, Human Right Protection Cell etc. to hear and redress public grievances.
** There is also a State level family counselling centre under the State Human Rights Protection Cell, Cuttack.

Citizens Interaction :
There is interaction with various citizens committees, peace committees, residents associations, various other associations and non-governmental organisations and other components of civil society. There is continuous public interaction at the police station level and field units. The police officers, during tours and night halts also interact with the local people, get acquainted with their problems and take remedial measures.

State Police Hdqrs Grievance cell :
Grievance redress mechanism is a part and parcel of the functioning of Odisha police. In order to be accountable, responsive and user friendly Odisha police established an efficient and effective grievance redress mechanism at state police Headquarters. In fact it is the gauge to measure efficiency and effectiveness as it provides feedback on the working of police administration in the state as a whole.

The purpose of grievance redressal mechanism functioning at state police Headquarters is to ensure that common citizens who feel aggrieved about the way they have been treated by local police administration are given every opportunity to have their grievance redressed in a justified manner. Also the employees of Odisha police raise their problems/complaints with their employer at state police Headquarter (T) grievance cell.

Grievance Day :
At state police Hdqrs grievance day is fixed on each working Monday. On the grievance day the grievance of both public as well as police personnel are being heard into by the Director General Of Police as circulated earlier vide S.P. Hdqrs letter No. 2066/GC(PAG) dt.25.10.2012. They should produce their service particulars along with their representation at the grievance cell for scrutinization and preparation of notes.

Joint Grievance :
Joint grievance hearing is conducted by District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on each Monday in every District Block Headquarters.

Procedure for grievance :
The public who are coming to State police Headquarters can put forth their grievance should reach at grievance cell on each working Monday preferably in the first hour and put forth their grievance in writing to the staffs at grievance call for scrutinization and preparation of notes.

Procedure for grievance for police personnel. :
Police personnel up to the rank of Inspector of police and equivalent ranks are used to put forth their grievance before the authority through grievance cell. The dress order is ceremonial “B”.

Up to rank of Havildar all the police personnel while coming to this Hdqrs for their transfer/deputation should bring their service particulars from their respective units as circulated earlier vide S.P. Hdqrs letter No. 32498/Exe dt.04.8.2012. They should produce their service particulars along with their representation at the grievance cell for scrutinization and preparation of notes.
