What is Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Free Sewing Machine Scheme?
The ‘Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Ninaivu Free Supply of Sewing Machine Scheme’ is a state scheme launched by the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. The scheme objective is to supply sewing machines free of cost to increase the self-employment potential for rehabilitation of destitute women/widows, deserted women, differently abled men and women, socially affected women and women from economically weaker sections.

Benefits of Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Free Sewing Machine Scheme
Sewing machines and accessories are provided at free of cost.
Eligibility of Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Free Sewing Machine Scheme
** The applicant’s annual income should not exceed ₹72,000/-.
** The age of the applicant should be between 20 to 40 years.
** The applicant should have knowledge of tailoring.
The applicant should be ANY ONE of the following:
** Destitute Woman.
** Widow.
** Deserted Woman.
** Differently Abled Man.
** Differently Abled Woman.
** Socially Affected Woman.
** Woman From Economically Weaker Sections.
How To Apply For Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Sewing Machine Scheme?
To apply for Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Ninaivu Free Supply of Sewing Machine Scheme, Follow the below steps
Steps:
Step 1: The applicant should gather copies of the necessary documents needed to apply for the concerned scheme.
Step 2: The applicant should visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) and complete the Biometric Verification Process.
Step 3: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields and upload copies of all the mandatory documents.
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
Documents Required For Sathiyavanimuthu Sewing Machine Scheme
** Destitute/Deserted/Widow/Differently abled Certificate
** Family Income Certificate
** Age Certificate
** Certificate showing that the applicant has knowledge in tailoring.
Women Industrial Cooperative Societies:
To ensure Gender equality by empowering women by providing them with skill and knowledge enables them to become Independent. Women empowerment can be achieved only by way of economic independence. Only if a women’s economic needs are fulfilled, she can claim herself to be empowered. Keeping this in mind the Directorate of Social Welfare is implementing Socio- economic development schemes through Women Industrial Co-operative Societies.
The concept of co-operation by way of collective action indeed help the women members of these co-operative societies to improve their socio economic status. These Industrial Co-operative societies are exclusively for women who from the disadvantageous section in the Society. Women in the age of 18-40 years and below poverty line can become the members of these societies and they are provided with employment opportunities which gain them decent income.
There are 99 Women Industrial Co-Operative Societies and I Transgender Industrial Co-operative Society are functioning under the control of Directorate of Social Welfare. All the Societies are engaged in the stitching and supplying of Uniforms to the School Children who are benefitted under Purachi Thalaivar M.G.R.Nutritious Meal Programme and to the School children of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare / Backward class, Most Backward Class and Minority Welfare Departments.
Special Uniforms provided to the children in Hilly areas like Nilgiris:
For boys Fullpant with Full sleeved shirt and for girls Fullhand Salwar kameez with Overcoat and Dupatta are being provided to the students studying from 1st standard to 8th standard benefitted under PTMGR Nutritious Meal Programme in the Hilly area schools in 16 districts including Nilgiris.
To meet with the required stitching capacity to stitch 4 sets of Uniform the number of Associate Members have been increased in the Societies. Special Training Programme was provided to the women members to train them in the stitching of Salwar Kameez and Full pants.
Selection of Best Society at District level and State level :
TamilNadu Co-operative Union is being presented a trophy every year for the best society at State level as well as District level.
