New Electricity Connection :

To apply for a new electricity connection for any residential requirement, all you need to do is follow these simple steps:

Step 1:
Fill the Application form 16.1 (page 1) in block letters with black ink and sign across the photograph.

Take Help of Licensed Electrical contractor (LEC)* for the following :
i) Section 2 & 3 of Form 16.1
ii) An installation test report issued by LEC

Step 2:
i) Kindly attach the following:
a) Latest Passport size photograph
b) Arrears Undertaking form
c) Latest Tapping meter’s bill copy (for Tapping application)
d) Download Way leave form and Indemnity form
e) Three Phase Undertaking form (applicable for 3 phase meter)
f) Work completion and Test Report duly filled and signed by LEC and supervisor.

Note:
Scrutinized documents should be approved by front end officer with sign, stamp and date.

No affidavit shall be accepted.

ii) Attach Required Documents giving Proof of Identity and Proof of Ownership or Occupancy of the premises of the Applicant.

Step 3:
** Submit the form – The completed form and the documents have to be submitted at a divisional office.
** Download Way leave form and Indemnity form
** Note: Please make sure you retain the requisition number (A unique serial number according to the area under which your application is registered) given to you at the time of document submission. You can use this number to check the status of your application on the Reliance Energy website or via your respective divisional office.
** Please Note, you are required to get original documents for verification purpose.

Step 4:
Pay applicable charges.

Step 5:
And you are done!

1. What is the adequate value for the electricity tariff?
Tariff must be sufficient to cover the costs for providing a reliable and quality energy supply and ensuring a financially viable power sector to attract necessary investments for the expansion of capacity.

2. “Tariff Determination Process involves participation of the General Public”. This statement is ‘True’ or ‘False’. If true, then at what stage participation takes place?
True. Post submission of Petition by the Utility and Technical Validation, Public Notice is issued confirming the date of Public Hearing and comments are invited from Public.

Replies need to be provided by the Utility within the time frame provided by MERC. The Public Hearing is then conducted.

3. What is the Concept of FAC?
FAC stands for Fuel Adjustment Cost. Any variation in the fuel cost when compared to the approved cost by MERC can be recovered through the mechanism of FAC.

4. Does the Customer stand to gain from the efficient performance of the Utility and how?
Yes. MERC MYT Regulations, 2015 speaks about the sharing methodology on account of Controllable Factors and Uncontrollable Factors.

2/3rd of gains on account of Controllable Factors will be passed on to customers as rebate in Tariff and balance shall be retained by the Generating Company or Licensee.

1/3rd of loss on account of Controllable Factors will be passed on to customers as additional charge in Tariff and balance shall be absorbed by the Generating Company or Licensee. Gains on account of Uncontrollable factors will be passed on to the customers entirely.
