Telangana Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme

Widening its welfare agenda, the Telangana government has announced a novel scheme for the SC/ST girls – Kalyana Lakshmi.

A one-time financial assistance of Rs 51,000 will be provided to the bride’s family at the time of marriage to meet the marriage related expenses. A Telangana resident girl, over 18 years of age, belonging to SC or ST communities with a combined annual income of her parents not exceeding Rs 2 lakh is eligible for the Scheme. The Scheme became operational from 2 October, 2014.

Why should I get a bank account??
To receive a scholarship, every student must have a bank account in any of the nationalised scheduled banks.

How do I change my bank account from the one that is registered on the epass website?
Every student or college who desires to change his bank account to the one given on the website will have to submit the original bank documents with account particulars to the concerned welfare officers who can then submit a change request to the PMU.

Where colleges want to change thier bank account they wil have to furnish a no objection certificate from the exisiting bank and a no objectiion from the new bank for making a change request for the bank account

What is a post matric Scholarship (PMS)?
A post matric scholarship is the scholarship which is granted to students by the welfare departments of the Govt. for enabling eligible students who have passed tenth class (SSC examination or equivalent to pursue post matric studies such as intermedeate, ITI, polytechnic, professional courses, graduate and post graduate courses, Ph.D etc.

what are the components of a PMS?
A post matric scholarship has two components namely reimbursement of tuition fee (RTF) to the college and maintenance fee to the student (MTF).

How much reimbursement will I get?
The reimbursement off tuition will be dependent on the course you pursue. While most of the courses are eligible for 100% of the tution fee as fixed by the government. Self financed courses are eligbile only foor a maximum of Rs. 20,000 or the acutal fee charged by the college, which ever is less.

Can I register after the last date?
unless the date for registration has been extended you cannot register as the epass portal will not allow you to register. Please register in time to avoid dissappointment!

Features of Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme Telangana

Here are some features of the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme Telangana:
** The scheme provides financial assistance to the parents of the bride on the occasion of her marriage.
** The amount of financial assistance is Rs. 1,00,116 for all castes and Rs. 1,51,116 for SC/ST and minority communities.
** The financial assistance is transferred directly to the mother’s bank account.
** The scheme is applicable to all brides who are residents of Telangana and who have completed 18 years of age at the time of marriage.
** The parents of the bride must have an annual income of less than Rs. 2,00,000.
** The scheme is implemented by the Telangana State Social Welfare Department.
