Integrated Social Security Scheme :
Objectives:
Under ISSS Financial assistance is being provided by the Social Welfare Deptt. to Old Age Persons, Widows/Destitute Women and Physically Handicapped

Funding Pattern:
The scheme is funded on co-sharing basis that is 50% of the total expenditure will be borne by the Govt. of India as central assistance and 50% by the state (50:50).
Pension Sanctioning Authority:
Chairman : District Development Commissioner.
Member-Secretary : District Social Welfare Officer.
Member : Assistance Commissioner {Development}
Member : Chief Medical Officer.
Benefits:
Beneficiary Type- Pension
Old Age Person- Rs 200/- PM
Widows or Destitute Women- Rs 200/- PM
Physically Challegned Person -Rs 400/- PM
Eligibility Criteria:
Old Age Pension:
55 years and above in case of women and 60 years and above in case of men with no source of income above the age of 20 years
Widow/Destitute Women:
Widow/Destitute Women of any age group having no source of income are provided financial assistance
Physically Challenged Person :
Physically Challenged Person Who have disability 40 % and above certified by the Medical Board and with no source of income

** Proof of Age
** Income certificate
** BPL certificate
** For widow pension – Death certificate of Husband.
** For physically challenged persons – Disability certificate from competent authority.

Social Welfare Centers :
The main objective of the Social Welfare Centers is impart the traininmg in various trades viz: cutting tailoring, Embroidery, Knitting and Curshia Work etc to the female folk to enable them to start their Income generating units.
The Social Welfare Centers are operated under the State sponsored scheme run by the department. Under this Scheme the stipend of Rs 100/= Per Month is also given to the candidate under training.

The Social Welfare Department came into existence in the State of J&K in the year 1960. It plays an important role in addressing problems of weaker sections of the society, Like Old Age Persons, Women in Distress, Physically Challenged People, Mal-Nourished children Lactating and expecting women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and other Economically Weaker Sections of the Society.
